West African Visiting Performer- Tuesday 25 July

On Tuesday we had a special visit from a group of musicians from West Africa.
Jennifer, Robert and Bismark entertained us with awesome drumming and singing.

We learnt a new song and had lots of fun singing and dancing!

At the end some lucky children were chosen to go up the front and have a go on the drums.

How long is a Diplodocus?

Today in maths Mrs Pettersson read us a story about a Diplodocus.

It said in the book that a Diplodocus is 27 metres long. We wanted to find out how long that it is.

We went outside and worked in group to guess how long the Diplodocus would be. Then we used a metre ruler to help measure 27 metres.

We learnt that a Diplodocus is nearly as long as a netball court. WOW!!!

America's Cup Boats

Today we had a turn at making our own America's Cup boats.

We all come up with different designs.

We had to work together to help each other.

Sometimes our designs didn't work so we we had to go back and try again.

We all managed to make our boats float.

We were very proud of our boats.

Go Team New Zealand!!!!

We hope you win races in the weekend.

PMP

We are loving going to PMP on Tuesday and Wednesday.

We are learning a lot about controlling our bodies.

We are learning to take risks and try new things.

Sometimes we have to work with a buddy to achieve our goal.

Thank you to all our helpers!!!! We couldn't do it without you.

The Strawberries Did a Play

The Strawberries performed 'The King's Birthday' to the studio today.
They all did a fantastic job.
 They used clear voices.
They faced the audience when they spoke.
 They even had actions
Well done Strawberries!!!!

The children did the teaching today!

Today in maths we got the children to each chose one of their goals that they have been focussing on. They then got to teach this goal to a buddy. The children had to use equipment and make sure they were asking each other lots of questions. They were all really involved and did a super job! We saw lots of counting in twos and fives, pairs to ten, ordering of number to 20 (and 50!) and counting along the giant number line.
