Are people a kind of animal?

Today at writing time T12 wrote to answer the question "Are people animals?

We talked with a buddy and shared lots of ideas why we think we are animals or why we think we were not animals.

Then we went and wrote about our ideas.

When we were finished writing we had a debate.
We came and sat on the mat. The people who thought people are animals sat on  one side and the people who thought people are not animals sat on the other side.

We took turns sharing our writing.

We all had lots of different ideas.

At the end Mrs Pettersson gave us the challenge of going home and talking to an adult about our ideas and to see if they can help us find the answer. We are going to share our learning tomorrow.

What do you think? Are people a kind of animal?

We love learning on the iPads

We love using the iPads to help our learning.
We use lots of different apps like Lexia, Matific, Letter School, Book Creator and Sock Puppets.
If we get stuck we can help each other.
Sometimes we find a quiet spot to work on our own.
Sometimes we work in the quiet room. There were lots of us here today. Look how focussed we are.
Sometimes we work together with a buddy.

Blue stuff Creations

We had a great time playing with the blue stuff on Tuesday.

Lockie, Arie, Travis and Natalie. worked hard to build a house for themselves and their cat.

It took a long time working out how to make it stable.
Arie said "We had to work as a team to build it. We worked out we needed it to be strong at the ends."

Natalie made a great cat. She was very happy in her home.

Watch out! Ben, Isaac and James are on the hunt.
Levi made a tower taller than Mrs Pettersson.

Maths Challenge: Week 5

Here is this weeks maths challenge.

How many different ways can you come up with? Share some of your ways in the comment section.

T12 and Harold the Giraffe

T12 was lucky enough to be the first T Group from Huritini to visit Harold.

We loved meeting Jamie and Harold.

They helped us to learn all about what our bodies need to survive.

We learnt how we get air into our body. Jamie taught us a song

Nose, wind pipe, lungs and brain
Lungs and brain
Nose, wind pipe, lungs and brain
Lungs and brain
Our blood flow through our arteries and veins
Nose, wind pipe, lungs and brain
Lungs and brain

We learnt about how we breathe in oxygen...
And that the oxygen gets into our blood and pumps all around our body...

Then we breathe out carbon dioxide

Thanks for teaching us Jamie and Harold!

We had a great time playing with all our friends today.

Check out some of things we got up to...

Last Friday we did a lot of thinking about what we can do to be the best learners we can be. We each selected an 'ACTIVE' goal for ourselves to work towards. Here are a few students with their chosen goal.
